Lily has lots of personality and so many different looks. She has a wonderful pouty look which her dad will probably love. These are a few of my favorites from the sitting but it is hard to choose because there were so many that were good.

My friend passed away several years ago and now his grandson is attending UGA. Where does the time go. It was a hoot to work with both of them, I really enjoyed it even though Anna Catherine was a little impish, she made up for that with her cuteness factor.

Miss Hannah came calling today and was full of personality for me. Since this weekend is father’s day I hope this will be a great gift. It was a little too late for getting the images back but this little video gift will have to do.

What Might Be…

The video we have posted here of a recent session will, more than anything, just make you smile. A mom and her boys are a world to themselves. The world can just go crazy all around us but when little ones are loved and cherished, as they apparently are by this mom, the children feel completely safe and happy and that’s exactly what you see in their faces.

I can see another young mother coming into the studio in about 30 years, bringing in a portrait of her husband and his mom and wanting the exact same thing for her child. Isn’t it wonderful that some things never change?

Think about anything you have purchased in the last few months and whether or not it has brought satisfaction, benefit or value to your life. We are not big shoppers so I have to think hard to come up with any examples very quickly. At our stage in life we are trying to resist the urge to buy very many things because we already have so many things. However, it wasn’t always that way.

The whole process of deciding you want a particular item, finding it, determining the exact model, color or size to purchase and carrying it away in a beautiful package can be an intoxicating experience. However, these days, it’s become almost cliché to talk about decluttering, re-evaluating, or downsizing. It’s the popular thing to do and sometimes people begin to gravitate to buying smaller, less expensive things and confuse that with the real act of simplifying. Obviously, the value of a purchase is in either its usefulness, ability to save or earn money or time or in the prolonged enjoyment it brings. Can you even remember something you purchased three years ago that you still love just as much today as you did the day you bought it? Is there anything that has grown in value over the last three years? If so, then there is true value in that thing.

Today, I am posting some images taken in 2007 of three beautiful boys we ave known pretty much all their lives. Even though their mom has had some beautiful images from this session over these last three years, we’ve just competed a wonderful little book so she can enjoy more of the many expressions we saw that day. Even though we have a new, up to date portrait we all really love, the old ones grow in value because now it is easier to see how that time is past and can only be regained through the photographs. That’s real value.

After almost five inches of rain a few days ago, we are drying out now. The sticks have been cleared, the grass mown and a walk through the yard is something not to be missed. Our days flow by filled with work and necessary activities and it is altogether too easy to isolate yourself from the “realness” of all that is around us. I encourage you to take a walk outside somewhere today and enjoy the beauty of standing under a tree looking up through its branches or a flower blossom or even an unopened bud. Enjoy the feel of sunshine on your face and feel refreshed by the beauty and peace that are waiting just outside your door.
